Some car enthusiasts are born into the lifestyle, while others stumble upon it and never look back. Alexey falls into the latter category. Hailing from Russia, he never imagined he'd one day be at the heart of American car culture, building and driving a Mustang that turns heads and sparks conversation everywhere he goes. But fate had other plans.

Discovering the Mustang Dream

Alexey’s first encounter with a Ford Mustang happened in Los Angeles in 2019. He rented a convertible EcoBoost model and, from the moment he started the engine, he knew this car was something special. It had power, history, and that unmistakable Mustang spirit that had been immortalized in movies. It wasn’t long before Alexey decided, he needed one of his own.

When he finally got his Mustang, it was bone stock. But like any true enthusiast, he wasn’t content to leave it that way. For Alexey, modifying his Mustang became more than just a hobby, it was an extension of his adventurous lifestyle, similar to his passion for surfing and snowboarding.

Building a Unique Ride

Every car in the modified car culture has a story, and Alexey's Mustang is no different. Over the last three years, he’s worked on upgrading his ride, making it faster, more powerful, and undeniably eye-catching. From bolt-on upgrades and weight reduction to an aggressive wrap that gives his car a fiery personality, every modification has been carefully planned.

One of his biggest inspirations came from watching videos online, especially those showing Mustangs shooting flames. That led him to revamp his exhaust system completely. He upgraded the fuel system, installed a full custom exhaust, added a larger throttle body, and implemented an X-pipe with no mufflers. The result? Flames that dance from his exhaust, turning heads wherever he goes.

The Balance Between Aggression and Style

For Alexey, car modification is an art. His Mustang has an aggressive aesthetic, but he believes in keeping things balanced. “I’m not aggressive, but my car is aggressive,” he says. That philosophy reflects in the design, a bold, flame-themed wrap with an almost creature-like front end that makes an unforgettable impression.

The process of modification was a learning experience. Like many enthusiasts, Alexey relied on YouTube tutorials, acquired the necessary tools, and worked on his car himself. He started with suspension upgrades, then moved on to front brakes, an air kit, tinting, a spoiler, and more. While he hasn’t yet dived into major engine modifications, his journey is far from over.

A Passion That Brings Joy

Car culture isn’t just about speed or aesthetics, it’s about community and the feeling of belonging. Alexey loves the reactions his Mustang gets on the road, just as he enjoys the thrill of surfing big waves. Both experiences give him that rush of adrenaline that fuels his passion.

He also appreciates the support from brands that have helped him along the way. XK Glow provided underglow lights that add another layer of personality to his ride. Looking back, Alexey never expected to be where he is today. Growing up in Russia, he didn’t even own a car. Now, he's fully immersed in American muscle car culture, constantly brainstorming new ideas to enhance his Mustang.

His advice to other car enthusiasts? Make your build unique, but don’t overdo it. Find that perfect balance between style and performance, and most importantly, enjoy the journey.
